While an adventurer in the Douglas County Public Library’s Dungeons & Dragons Club might have a plus 6 cloak against weather, the Minden Branch isn’t taking any chances.

Due to impending bad weather, all programs at the Minden Library, including Baby Lap-Sit Storytime, Teen Anime Club, Dungeons & Dragons Club have been cancelled for Wednesday. The 2nd Wednesday Book Group meeting has been rescheduled to January 24.

A wind advisory is currently in effect through Wednesday morning.

An NV Energy wind gauge along Highway 88 between Mottsville and Centerville lanes recorded a 54 mph gust at 11 a.m. with winds steady out of the southwest between 27-31 mph.

A winter weather advisory takes effect for 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Minden.

Remember Saturday's snowy travel mess?” asked National Weather Service Reno Meteorologist Edan Weishahn.  “This storm queued up to arrive on Wednesday will bring similar travel impacts with snow levels down to all valley areas.”

The main concern, Weishahn said, are forecast snow rates of 1-2 inches per hour in Western Nevada.

The library asks patrons to check their calendar, Facebook and Instagram pages before going to the library to check for any last minute closures and cancellations, especially during the winter.

The Minden Library is located at 1625 Library Lane.  Connect with the Douglas County Public Library on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, library.douglascountynv.gov, or call 775-782-9841.
