Douglas County Proposes to Change the Wastewater Rates and Fees for All Douglas County Sewer Utility Customers and Will Hold a Public Hearing on Resolution 2024R-014 to Consider the Changes on February 15, 2024 beginning at 10:00 am at the Board of County Commissioners Chambers.

Minden-Nev. – On December 21, 2023 the Board of County Commissioners directed staff to bring forward a sewer utility rate resolution pursuant to NRS 318.199 and incorporate the following proposed base sewer rate for one (1) equivalent dwelling unit (EDU):

Effective Date

July 1, 2024

July 1, 2025

July 1, 2026

July 1, 2027

July 1, 2028

Monthly Rate

$75.68

$78.71

$81.07

$83.50

$86.01

This sewer utility rate structure was recommended by FCS Group, a public sector utility financial consultant, based on their financial analysis as presented at the December 21, 2023 meeting.

The Board of County Commissioners also directed staff to adjust the sewer connection fee for each equivalent dwelling unit (EDU) from the current service-area-dependent range of $6,020 to $7,150 to a uniform amount of $9,960.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners proposes to change the wastewater rates and fees for all Douglas County sewer utility customers and will hold a public hearing to review a proposed sewer utility rate resolution for the Douglas County Sewer Utility Fund on February 15, 2024 during their regular board meeting in the Historic Courthouse at 1616 Eighth Street in Minden, Nevada.

The proposed rate structure will fund the revenue requirement throughout the sewer system. The revenue requirement will ensure that all operational and maintenance needs are met and that all of the most critical capital improvement projects throughout the sewer utility system are funded.

This sewer rate structure only applies to customers of the Douglas County sewer utility (the resolution does not apply to customers served by Minden-Gardnerville Sanitation District, Indian Hills GID, or any of the five public wastewater service providers in the Lake Tahoe Basin).
