Update: A man accused of shooting a tow truck driver was arrested after an hours long manhunt south of Goldfield that closed Highway 95 for most of Thursday, according to a story appearing in the Pahrump Valley Times.
According to the newspaper, Esmeralda and Nye county authorities received a call around 3 a.m.
The shooter fled the scene on foot and deputies searched for hours on Thursday morning before locating the man about 5 miles south of Goldfield.
Update: The highway south of Tonopah has been reopened and a lockdown order lifted after a shooting reported near Silver Peak Road.
Highway 95 between Tonopah and Beatty has been closed all morning as Esmeralda County Sheriff’s deputies seek a reported homicide suspect.
Southbound travelers across Nevada have been diverted onto Highway 6 and onto the Alien Highway on the way to Highway 93.
The highway has been closed since 4:50 a.m. as authorities search for a suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous.
Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick Dondero warned residents to keep doors, windows and vehicles locked.
