Longtime Community Services Director Scott Morgan has a permanent gig after accepting appointment as the Douglas County assistant county manager.

Morgan, who has worked for the county for three decades, will be officially filling the vacancy created when Jenifer Davidson was appointed county manager last spring.

“It has been my pleasure to serve as the Community Services Director for the past 30 years,” Morgan said. “The transition to the County Manager’s Office is an exciting new opportunity to work with a new team of highly motivated individuals doing their best to make Douglas County the best-governed organization in the state, and the best place to live in the country. I’m proud to be a member of the County Manager’s team and to serve the Board of County Commissioners who care deeply about our community. In addition, I would like to thank the incredible Community Services staff for all of their hard work and dedication to Douglas County.”

During his 30-year tenure, Morgan has overseen Parks, Recreation, Social Services, Senior Services, Noxious Weed Control, Animal Care and Services, Public Health Nurse, and the DART transportation Departments. He was also responsible for the expansion of programs to north and south county; the development of the County’s first adult daycare program and public transportation program; and the construction of four award-winning community parks, two nationally recognized community multi-generational centers, a nationally recognized skate park, a disc-golf course, a historic working ranch, and a shooting facility.

“Scott brings an extensive wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of Assistant County Manager,” said County Manager Jenifer Davidson. “Our collaborative efforts have been enjoyable, and I firmly believe that we make an excellent team. I am confident that his appointment to the position will not only benefit the organization, but also our entire community. Scott has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the Community Services Department and his team, for which we express our gratitude as he sets aside his passion for Community Services to serve in the County Manager’s Office. I have full confidence that Scott will carry the same passion for public service into the County Manager’s Office, and I am eagerly anticipating the accomplishments we will achieve together.”

Assistant Community Services Director Brook Adie will continue to serve as the Community Services Director until the position is filled.

“I look forward to what’s in store for Douglas County,” Morgan adds. “It is my honor to serve this community and organization.”
