When the list of Douglas County residents applying of an open seat on the Airport Advisory Committee came out, there were two names that stood out.
One was retired Bently executive and 51-year Minden resident Robert Chapman. The other was the sister of Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, four-year Clear Creek resident Kathy Savitt, who is currently the president of Boom Supersonic.
However, the business community seat on the committee was apparently supposed to be someone who actually operated a business at the airport.
Instead of picking the third candidate, 11-year Gardnerville resident Tim Gardner, who operates Minden-Tahoe Airport business Tegridy Aviation, the commission decided to reopen the appointment.
According to a post, the county is accepting applications to the committee for an airport commercial community member until 5 p.m. Feb. 5.
All applicants must be Douglas County residents. The appointment would serve until Dec. 31, at which point, the appointee can re-apply for a 2-year term.
