Genoa, Nev. — The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for Saturday through Monday, with a forecast high temperature predicted to reach 102 degrees on Sunday. Check on vulnerable neighbors, stay cool and hydrated and try not to set anything on fire.


Gardnerville Town Board members will discuss the landscaping for a new Maverik south of town. The town’s first approval for the project was reported in the July 4, 2019, edition of The Record-Courier. Town board members meet 4:30 p.m. at its offices, 1407 Main St.


Due to technical difficulties, both the Regional Transportation Commission and Airport Advisory Committee meetings scheduled for today are canceled. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting for today was cancelled last week.


The work of local glass artist Janice Stowers and watercolor artist Reta Hanks goes on display at the Copeland Gallery in Minden today through the end of August. The gallery is located at 1572 Highway 395 in Minden.


Today’s forecast calls for a high of 93 degrees and the wind picking up out of the northwest at 5 mph this afternoon. The low tonight drops to 54 but that won’t last for long.
