The classic car group dubbed Kim’s Kruisers got together a day early on Wednesday to celebrate the Fourth of July.
There were over 20 classic cars and trucks in the parking lot.
This group of classic car owners and enthusiasts started meeting during the 2020 coronavirus outbreak.
Tired of sitting in the house during that period, Don Ciriello suggested to his fellow friends go to Kim’s Donuts and sit in the parking lot and socialize from a distance.
“Who knew that this suggestion would continue to this day,” said Vicki Jewell. “The word has gotten out and has expanded in its membership. Typically in the summer, there are about 20-30 classic cars and trucks in the parking lot. They have had up to 52 classic vehicles in the parking lot. And if you think that the gathering ends in the summer and fall, the answer is no. They also gather in the winter, electing to sit inside the establishment.”
Though not a formal car club, it wasn’t until this past year that the group thought it should have a name and came up with Kim’s Kruisers.
Jewell said classic car and truck owners or an enthusiasts, are welcome at the group, which meets 6 a.m.-9:30 a.m. every Thursday at Kim’s Donuts, located at 1328 Main St. in Park Place at Lampe Corners.
