Genoa, Nev. — It sounded like it was a busy Fourth of July for first responders and law enforcement at Lake Tahoe with what sounded like a couple of melees on the beaches. We’ll get it sorted over the next few days, but I wager Tahoe Township Justice Court is going to be busy this morning.

A Honda SUV crashed into pole at 395 and Fourth Street in Minden around 6 p.m. might have been a medical issue. The driver was transported to Renown by East Fork ambulance. A few minutes later, East Fork firefighters responded to a kitchen fire on Kimmerling in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

The fireworks at Stateline wrapped up around 11 p.m. and Highway 50 was closed briefly to allow motorists to be on their way. There were definitely some folks who parked places they shouldn’t and had their vehicles towed.

Gardnerville’s DST Coffee is hosting a party on their patio 4-10 p.m. today and 2-10 p.m. Saturday. They’re hosting live music and a food truck tonight and a car show on Saturday.

It was good to get out and show the flag for The R-C on Thursday but I’ll admit the heat got to me.  I can’t tell it got up past 90 before I retreated indoors to put Saturday’s edition to bed. It topped out at 95 degrees in most places, which was similar to Wednesday’s high temperature.

The heat warning has been extended to 10 a.m. Wednesday and the forecast calls for a solid week of 100-degree or warmer temperatures in Minden.

Today is predicted to be 100 degrees with the wind out of the north at 5-10 mph. The lows are right around 60 degrees tonight and the beyond.
