Miss Nevada crowned in Stateline competition

Less than two weeks after Miss Silver State was waving to the Carson Valley Days crowd in Minden, Carson City native Karrina Ferris, 21, was crowned the 75th Anniversary Miss Nevada in Stateline.

Bally’s Lake Tahoe hosted the Miss Nevada contest on June 21 for the first time in the pageant’s history.

Ferris, 21, graduated in 2023 from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a bachelor of arts degree in history minoring in political science, according to the to the Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization.

She currently works as a legal research assistant for McMenomy Law in Reno, and is pursuing offers from numerous law schools where she plans to earn her law degree with the ultimate goal of going into politics.

Ferris said she is looking forward to a year of service promoting her Community Service Initiative, “Inform to Reform: Educating America’s Future.”  Her talent was ballet.

Ferris has already won $18,000 in scholarships through her participation in the Miss America Opportunity. She will go on to compete at the Miss America Competition in January 2025.

“Since I was 6 years old, the Miss America Opportunity has served as a force for good in my life.” Ferris said. “It has instilled in me a love for community service, taught me the importance of perseverance, and has given me leadership skills that serve me every single day in both my personal and professional life. I’m honored to serve as a representative for this program, and to share it with other young women across my state.”

Las Vegas native Ava Iltchev, 16 was named the 19th Miss Nevada’s Teen.
