The deadline is July 22 to register for a July 25 Chautauqua workshop led by award-winning actress and scholar Leslie Goddard at the Dangberg Historic Park.
The evening before the 10 a.m. workshop, Goddard will be portraying Amelia Earhart, the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, 6:30 p.m. July 24. With paid registration, workshop registrants will receive a pass to this performance.
As well as instruction, attendees will receive materials relating to Goddard's presentation, a certificate of completion, and a pass to attend all 2024 Dangberg Summer Festival Chautauqua events.
Goddard holds a doctorate from Northwestern University specializing in American studies and U.S. history, as well as a master's degree in theater, and has been presenting history programs for more than 15 years.
All adults and youth 14-17 years are welcome; however, youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is due by Monday and must be accompanied with payment. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. The registration fee for all ages is $50. Email events@dangberg.org for a registration form and more information.
"This will be our fourth season offering Chautauqua instruction, and we are pleased to see several of our workshop graduates now performing in public," said Kim Harris, the park's events manager.
This season's Chautauqua programs are funded in part by a generous grant from Nevada Humanities and National Endowment for the Humanities. Bring a chair and only certified service animals are allowed. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic, as no food or beverages will be sold at these events. Visit Dangberg.org for more information.
