A fundraising dinner to support the Walker Basin Conservancy’s efforts on behalf of Walker Lake is scheduled to take place Sept. 14 at Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa.

“The evening will capture the spirit of the ranching and cultural heritage of Northern Nevada while supporting the Walker Basin Conservancy’s efforts to restore Walker Lake and drive positive impact for wildlife and water conservation across the region,” organizers said. “With over 200 business leaders and community guests in attendance, highlights of the event will include a farm-to-table dinner featuring local fare provided by area ranchers and farmers and catered by Nothing To It Culinary Center, an engaging presentation highlighting the work of the Walker Basin Conservancy, a stunning silent auction featuring Nevada-centric experiences, and interpretive engagement opportunities at the Mormon Station State Park.”

Tickets for the event are $150 each and tables are $1,500.

Tiered sponsorship opportunities, that include television promotion benefits, are still available, and silent auction donations are welcome.

Sponsors for the Under a Nevada Sky event include Reno Type, Park Ranch Meats, Western Skies RV, Whispering River Ranch RV Park, Northern Trust, AMP Insights, Michael’s Reno Powersports, and KRNV News Channel 4.

Upstream from Walker Lake, the Bureau of Land Management is proposing the transfer of approximately 173 acres to the Walker River Paiute Tribe, to be held in trust by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The transfer would add to the Walker River Paiute Reservation located north of Walker Lake in Mineral County and about 22 miles north of Hawthorne.
