Empty nesters and their adult children are bound to relate and reminisce their lives after seeing The Carson Valley Community Theatre's production "Making God Laugh,"

Written by Sean Grennan, "Making God Laugh," follows the lives of Ruthie and Bill, and their grown children; a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former football star who have returned home.

"Making God Laugh" opens in 1980 when the dreams of the children are learned and they embark into their adult lives, leaving Ruthie and Bill empty nesters. As they all adjust to their own changes, old family rituals are continued and ancient tensions flare up. As time goes on, the family discovers that despite different opinions, thoughts, and expectations, we often arrive at unexpected destinations.

"It has a comic tone to it, but then packs in a bit of a punch with a hint of familial twists," said Producer Cori Rosa.

This is Rosa's first time producing a show and is looking forward to how it comes together.

"I'm very proud of the whole production and look forward to seeing it keep evolving from opening night to close," said Producer Cori Rosa.

Rosa has performed with the theatre in the past and decided to become more involved with the Carson Valley Community Theatre.

"I have some big shoes to fill in learning and I also want to direct so it's all a work in progress," she said.

"Making God Laugh," is being directed by Douglas High School Drama teacher Renee Kaldor with performances by Rachelle Resnick, Mackenzie Evans, Jordan Washington, Cash Bourquin, Larry Lippman, Kwaz, Amy Sando, and Tim Pepper.

The theatre is inviting local EMT, Firemen and women, and police to the dress rehearsal Thursday free of charge. Doors open at 7 p.m.
