Tahoe Knight Monsters sign affiliate deal with Vegas

Also includes registration information for LTCC soccer skills camp

On Tuesday, the Tahoe Knight Monsters announced the club has entered an affiliate deal with the NHL’s Vegas Knights and AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights.

“We are very proud to be a part of the Golden Knights and Silver Knights families,” Knight Monsters co-owner David Hodges said. “Hockey in Nevada has continued to grow over the last seven-plus years and we’re excited to get going in late October.”

The Knight Monsters have yet to play a game as a franchise, opening their inaugural season Oct. 24 at home at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. The organization will compete in the ECHL. 

Nevada becomes the second state in the U.S. with an NHL, AHL and ECHL team.

The Knight Monsters have already sold more than 1,000 season tickets; packages are still available through the team’s website.


PALMER TO OLYMPICS IN SUPPORT ROLE

Krysta Palmer announced on her social media pages Wednesday afternoon she will still be attending the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

“Because of your unwavering support, I will be getting the opportunity to travel to Paris to support and cheer on Team USA and my good friend and teammate Alison Gibson,” said Palmer on Instagram.

Palmer, a Douglas and Nevada alum, won bronze as an individual in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and competed alongside Gibson in the synchronized diving.

The duo was one spot off qualifying for the Olympics this year, while Palmer was also one spot off securing an individual spot as well.


LTCC SOCCER SKILLS CAMP 

Lake Tahoe Community College and coach Jeremy Evans announced that the school its hosting its annual college camp in early August.

The camp will take place Sunday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cost $164.50, with lunch included.

The camp is open to all freshmen through seniors in high school, as well as junior college players.

A few of the programs in attendance include Cal State East Bay, San Francisco State, Cal State Stanislaus, Sonoma State, Dominican, UC Santa Cruz, Lincoln, and Menlo College.

The camp will take place on the LTCC turf soccer field.
