As rescuers were looking for a missing man in Topaz Lake on Monday morning, another man was found floating in the water at Sand Harbor.

A woman with a large group said her husband saw the man’s back on the surface and then saw him move his hands before he went under the water.

“Three of my (group) along with a few others pulled the man out of the water after a friend or relative of the victim pulled him to the surface,” she said. “It was really nice to see people pull together and try and save a complete stranger. There were also a couple of women that were kneeling in prayer for the man.”

According to the Nevada Division of State Parks, the man was spotted near the Sand Harbor Boat Ramp at around 9 a.m.

Two visitors helped pull the man ashore and started CPR.

Three lifeguards arrived on scene shortly after and took over performing lifesaving medical care while waiting for North Lake Tahoe Fire and Rescue to arrive, according to the report. The man was transported around 9:38 a.m. to Incline Community Hospital via ground by medics.

The man’s identity and condition were not available on Wednesday morning.

Reno resident 51-year-old Rodney Mitchell was located at Topaz Lake around 9:45 a.m. Monday after he was last seen jumping into the water on Sunday afternoon.
