There are still a half-dozen NV Energy customers without electricity at Lake Tahoe this morning after a second widespread outage occurred on Wednesday morning. At one point 2,198 homes and businesses mostly at Lake Tahoe were out.


A transmission equipment issue caused the outage that affected around 8,000 homes and businesses at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday. Power wasn’t fully restored until 9:15 p.m.


Firefighters are working a 9.1-acre fire near Mount Siegal on the east slope of the Pine Nuts. The Siegal fire was reported 12:32 p.m. and is on federal land. A helicopter appears to be doing most of the heavy lifting in the steep terrain, according to the Wild Web.


It appears most of the precipitation fell in the Pine Nuts above Fish Springs with a gauge at the top of Pine Nut Creek recording 2.18 inches 2-6:25 p.m. Wednesday with .44 inches at the Fish Springs fire house.

Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 92 degrees. The zephyr will bring 15-20 mph west winds just before lunch time with 30 mph gusts this afternoon.
