On June 30, Crossroads Church of the Nazarene in Gardnerville celebrated the arrival of new pastor Donny Crandell.

“As parishioners without a pastor for nearly two and a half years, we continued to worship with the help of wonderful visiting clergymen,” parishioners said. “Our devoted church body also stepped up to fill the void that we were afraid might befall us; but God is amazing.

The installation celebration was standing room only, with many friends, family and high-ranking military members attending from all over Nevada and California to witness the event.

Crandell came from the Reno area. where he has served for 16 years and continues to serve as a lieutenant colonel and chaplain, here and via deployments for the Air National Guard.  He has been in pastoral ministry for over 30 years (including senior pastor for children, youth, and singles). Crandell has published eight faith-based books.  His wife, Tilisa, is also a published author.

“The Crossroads family is thrilled with the possibilities that the Lord will bring through Pastor Donny and his wonderful family,” parishioners said. “At a time when it seems that so many of our traditions are being canceled, and our daily endurance seems futile, we have found renewed spiritual hope.”

Services are 10:15 a.m. at Crossroads Church, 1788 Pinenut Road, Gardnerville.

Crandell will be contributing to The Record-Courier's Reflections on the Word column.
