Genoa, Nev. — Nixon near Pyramid Lake recorded hazardous air quality this morning with a whopping 703, purple-lining the scale on airnow.gov. Fallon is at very unhealthy levels with a 253. Those two spots sit on either side of the line of the very worst of the smoke.
Smoke from the Park Fire is forecast to make it down to Carson Valley today. As cited above, points north of us have been bearing the brunt of it. As of this morning, the air quality in the Gardnerville Ranchos is in the good range with a 17.
Firefighters reported having a line around nearly a fifth of the 390,000 acre Park Fire. Satellite mapping and official reports on the size of the fire are starting to jibe, which is usually a good sign.

I’ve obtained a copy of the Genoa Historic District Commission brochure for folks who want to make changes on commercial property in Nevada’s oldest downtown. Commissioners approved a sign for the new café in the former Genoa Station on Monday.
We could start seeing areas of smoke around 8 a.m. with widespread haze after 2 p.m. when a northwest breeze of 5 mph picks up. Otherwise, the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 95 degrees.
