Genoa, Nev. — Today opens the final week of in-person early voting at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center with the roving ballot box in Indian Hills 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Kahle Community Center 3-6 p.m.

While I was making my rounds on Saturday, I spotted the carnival rides staged at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. They should be making the move to Lampe Park today or Tuesday.

A vehicle fire closed the northbound lanes of Highway 395 around 6 p.m. Saturday. Reports were that the vehicle was towing two others when it caught fire. I’ve reached out to the Nevada State Police regarding a second collision on Kingsbury 10 p.m. Saturday.

I think the big power outage on Saturday night affected the feed from the Douglas County Dispatch to the scanner app I use, so I have no idea what happened around the Valley on Sunday. Pulse Point has some stuff, but I’ll resist for now.

East Fork firefighters will be conducting a fire investigation training class east of Minden-Tahoe Airport 8:30-11 a.m. today that may result in some smoke and flames, according to Deputy Chief Larry Goss. There are going to be 28 firefighters on scene, along with five engines and a water tender. They'll be keeping an eye on the wind before setting any fires.

A lake wind advisory will be nine-to-fivin’ it today at Lake Tahoe with 15-25 mph southwest winds, gusting to 35 mph, which will drive waves up to 3 feet high. Might be a good idea to skip the paddle board, unless you’re surfing.

The cloud cover this morning kept temperatures warm overnight with Minden-Tahoe Airport’s automated weather system recording 61 degrees at 2:35 p.m. climbing to 68 degrees by 5:55 p.m.

Today might be the last relatively cool day for a while with the high forecast to hit 77 degrees under mostly cloudy skies before jumping to 87 degrees on Tuesday and 95 on Wednesday. The west wind will be 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph.
