The Gardnerville Town Board will advertise for a new town board member after they said farewell to Carson Valley native Mike Henningsen in person on Tuesday. They want to give people plenty of time, so applications should close around July 20
Minden Town Board members are scheduled to conduct a design review for a restaurant located between the Subway and the car wash that is touted as a possible Chipotle’s. The town board meets 5:30 p.m. in the CVIC Hall.
Genoans are discussing designating part of the east side of Genoa Street from Mill to Nixon streets as no parking. The street is one of the few means of getting past downtown, but it is narrow and often clogged during events.
The primary turnout is online at govotedouglas.com if you’re wondering how things are progressing. Looks like total turnout between in-person and mail hit 6,681 as of this morning.
The roving ballot box is at Kahle Community Center 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Gardnerville Ranchos Fire Station on Mitch at 3-6 p.m. today. You can drop off a ballot or vote at the Community Center 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday is the last day to early vote in person before next week’s primary.
I didn’t look but I bet the Carson Valley Days carnival is pretty close to set up at Lampe Park today. It officially opens on Thursday afternoon with Buddy Night. Discount tickets don’t become valid until Friday.
The repair folks pronounced on The R-C’s A/C on Tuesday just in time for the hottest day of 2024, so far. We’re going to be in and out of the office, when it’s cool, but otherwise the best way to get in contact with us is via email. Our phones are forwarding messages to our email.
The forecast today has sunny skies and the high temperature back up to 94 degrees and Thursday warming to 95 degrees. Neither one of those is a record, though today’s might be close to the 96 degrees set in 1926. The wind will pick up out of the west at 5-10 mph this afternoon.
