Genoa, Nev. — County commissioners will address concerns about beachgoers parking on Warrior Way to access Zephyr Cove Beach. The beach has been a magnet for trouble already this season, and it’s unlikely to improve.

Also on commissioners’ plate is a proposed 14 percent increase in community development fees in order to cover the cost of doing business. Commissioners meet 10 a.m. today at the Carson Valley Inn.

Commissioners are hitting the casino because the CVIC Hall is taken by the Carson Valley Art Association’s Carson Valley Days show and the Courthouse is being used to process mailed ballots.

Did I mention that Carson Valley Days starts today? It’s Buddy Night at the carnival 4-10 p.m. at Lampe Park. Save those discount coupons for Friday through Sunday. Find out more at carsonvalley2030.org

As of this morning, 6,674 voters have cast their mail ballot in Douglas County, with 852 voting in person on a machine. Early in-person voting wraps up Friday.

The roving ballot box is at the Washoe Tribe Community Center 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Genoa Town Hall 3-6 p.m. today. Election Day is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The afternoon cloud cover resulted in Wednesday’s heat dome only barely cracked the 90s, according to temperature readings across Carson Valley with Minden-Tahoe Airport the hotspot at 91 degrees.

A heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. today with a forecast high temperature of 94 degrees under sunny skies. The afternoon breeze will pick up to 10-15 mph out of the west. There’s a possibility of thunderstorms firing up over the Sierra this afternoon.
