Genoa, Nev. — It’s Election Day and the polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are four polling places in addition to the Carson Valley Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. You can vote at the Kahle, Topaz Ranch Estates or Dresslerville community centers or at the Indian Hills General Improvement District office regardless of your precinct.
The final count for early in-person voting was 1,248, with 8,101 mail ballots accepted for county as of end of business Monday. You can still drop off a mailed ballot at any polling place or the Election Tent at the Douglas County Courthouse.
The first day of actual work on Highway 395 was an eventful one on Monday afternoon with a vehicle vs. semi collision, a wildfire, and oh yeah, is it a mess. Even the contractors are avoiding Main Street by heading north up East Valley.
When you’re driving those side streets please be respectful of the folks who live along them. It’s going to be a mess for a while and no amount of rushing through the neighborhoods is going to improve that.
Genoa Historic District commissioners are scheduled to meet 4:30 p.m. today in the town meeting room to determine the appropriateness of a new paint job for the former Teig Building to replace the bright blue. The applicant is opening a new restaurant, according to the county.
I neglected to include a crash that occurred at Genoa Lane and Main in downtown Genoa around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night. I don’t have any other information on it, but I’ll check around.
Today is the last day of the 2024 USA Open Class National Championship at Minden-Tahoe Airport. Today’s task for the 17 pilots will take them down to Bishop.
