Men with all shapes, length, and color of facial hair strutted the stage Saturday during Carson Valley Days for Taylor’s Scissors & Clippers annual beard contest.
There were 11 categories including : most unique, reddest, best partial, best salt and pepper, best mustache, whitest beard, best groomed, longest beard, thickest, most scruffy, and best beard strut.
During the best mustache category, Taylor Lynch, owner of Taylor’s Scissors & Clippers, and host of the competition dedicated the category to Cliff Joy, who won in 2023. Joy and his brother Adam died of fentanyl poisoning Feb. 11 in South Lake Tahoe.
Lynch said Joy was a regular customer and had a “killer mustache.”
She raffled a gift basket in his honor and donated the proceeds to his family.
This year’s beard contest was judged by The Record-Courier’s Publisher Tara Addeo, Atom Knowles of the mental health organization The Altruistic American and Cipriani’s Barber Brian.
