Genoa, Nev. — County Manager Jenifer Davidson received glowing reviews from both commissioners and the public on Thursday, along with a 3 percent merit raise and a $3,000 bonus. Davidson celebrated a year in her role this month.

The Highway 395 work will be swapping the closure of Waterloo Lane and Gilman Avenue at noon today. Waterloo is closed in the morning and Gilman in the afternoon.

Eddy Street will be closed while Mono Avenue, County Road, Church Street, Cemetery Lane and Centertowne will be closed until late afternoon if I’m interpreting the text correctly. Text DOWNTOWN to 866-540-8466 for updates.

Deputies responded to reports of shots fired 9:30 p.m. in the area of Buckeye Road behind Winhaven, Sheriff Dan Coverley confirmed on Thursday. He said they didn’t find anything, and the Sheriff’s Office hasn’t received any additional calls related to the issue.

It will be DEET from above this morning as Douglas County Mosquito Abatement sprays 3,000 acres west of Highway 395 on either side of Muller Lane. Tonight they’re fogging near Westwood after 9 p.m. and the same time on Tuesday night near Winhaven and Buckeye. Check dcmosquito.org for more information.

If you’re outside over the weekend definitely bring a hat, sunscreen and water because summer’s here and the time is right for baking in the streets. Today’s high is forecast to hit 91 under sunny skies and then climb to 96 degrees on Saturday.
