Genoa, Nev. — There were 66 Gardnerville Ranchos NV Energy customers without power at 6:40 a.m. today after a 2:32 a.m. outage. That’s fewer than the more than 2,000 on Wednesday. The R-C has contacted NV Energy to find out more.


Paving is continuing on southbound Highway 395 through Gardnerville. I’ve got a note into NDOT to find out when construction will be wrapped up for the Fourth of July holiday when they hope to have four lanes open.


The Pony Express Re-Rider was about 13 minutes early getting into Genoa on Wednesday. Riders chewed up that time getting over Old Kingsbury and arrived in Stateline 11 minutes behind. The rider is due in Old Sacramento around 4:30 p.m. today.


A funeral Mass for retired Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Stan Lamb is 11 a.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church. The family asks that supporters donate to Douglas Animal Welfare Group (www.dawgrescue.com) in Stan’s name.

It appears we made it through the third red flag warning without any major conflagrations. It’s forecast to be a smidge cooler today with a high of 87 in Minden. The west wind will be 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
