Genoa, Nev. — The first race for Douglas County School Board developed on Wednesday when Steve Pruitt filed against Melinda Gneiting for the District 5 school board seat held by Linda Gilkerson. The candidates live at opposite ends of Lassen Way in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
Advertising for bids for Douglas County’s segment of Muller Lane Parkway estimated at $9-11 million is online with opening on March 28. On Wednesday, the Regional Transportation Commission moved $5.5 million to help fund the project.

It appears the weather will hold through the expedition, with cloudy skies this morning and a high of 46 degrees forecast for Minden today and Friday. A north wind is expected to pick up this afternoon with 5-10 mph.
