Genoa, Nev. — We’ll be sorting out what happened at Tuesday’s school board meeting this morning after a vote to offer interim Superintendent Jeanne Dwyer the job, according to reporter Sarah Drinkwine, who was at the meeting.

Planning commissioners went three for three with unanimous votes recommending projects from north of Sunridge to Grant Avenue south of Gardnerville. In the middle was the approval of the zone change for the proposed Douglas County courthouse off Buckeye Road.

Petitioners filed their challenge to overturn the county’s decision on the vacation home rental petition. Neither Douglas County judge will hear the case because they were already challenged, so the supreme court has to assign a visiting judge.

A five-year plan capital improvement plan goes before trustees for the Topaz Ranch Estates General Improvement District board meet 6 p.m. today at the TRE community center. They are discussing selecting a fifth board member, too.

The only news story in Wednesday’s paper that didn’t change somewhat on Tuesday was the accused "Blue Truck Eluder." He appeared in East Fork Justice Court and said he would hire his own attorney and planned to make bail. He’s back on the docket this morning.

It was fairly blustery on Tuesday afternoon, with Sheridan recording a 54 mph gust at 1:10 p.m. Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin reported a 40 mph gust at his place at 4:14 p.m.

A high wind warning is in effect for the Sierra starting at 11 p.m. with 40-50 mph wind gusts in the Sierra and wave heights of up to 5 feet on Lake Tahoe.

Today we should see mostly sunny skies with a high near 47 degrees. The north wind is forecast at 5-10 mph gusting to 20 mph.
