A 19-year-old Gardnerville man was killed in a collision just after midnight Thursday.
Jackson Andrew Watts was identified as the deceased on Thursday morning.
Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies and East Fork medics responded to Jacks Valley Road and Bavarian Drive at 12:10 a.m., according to Sheriff Dan Coverley.
“Deputies located a Volkswagen with one occupant,” he said. “Deputies began CPR until East Fork Fire arrived.”
Watts was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nevada State Police were requested to handle the accident investigation, Coverley said.
According to the state’s preliminary report, Watts was southbound on Jacks Valley approaching Bavarian and failed to negotiate the large curve.
“The Volkswagen departed the roadway onto the right dirt shoulder, continued in a southwest direction over a paved driveway, struck multiple trees and overturned,” according to the state police.
The Highway Patrol’s Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction team is investigating the crash.
This marks the third fatal crash in Western Nevada and the first in Douglas County in 2024.
Watts is a 2023 graduate of Douglas High School.
