A fire in a Johnson Lane workshop around 10 p.m. Saturday resulted in the destruction of its contents, including vehicles.
East Fork firefighters responded to the fire on Gordon Avenue.
“Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies were first on scene and reported a fully involved garage fire,” said East Fork Battalion Chief John Brawley. “East Fork Fire District units arrived on scene of a detached workshop with fire from every side and through the roof.”
Brawlen said fire threatened to spread to a neighboring home and the house on the property.
“While units were accessing the scene a roof collapse happened, which caused the exterior walls to be unsafe,” he said.
That prompted firefighters to go on defense to keep the fire from spreading. They were able to knock it down in 25 minutes.
Three East Fork engines, two ambulances, a squad, a utility and three fire officers responded to the blaze along with a Carson City engine and battalion chief. In all 22 firefighters responded.
