On March 9, Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge 2670 named Woodetts Diner owner Remon Zamalis as its Citizen of the Year.
“We are delighted this years’ recipient is a member of our Lodge,” according to the Elks. “Remon and his wife, Christelle, have been members of our community for only 2.5 years. Yet they have fully embraced our community.”
The couple catered the Douglas County Sheriff’s Advisory Council’s 20th anniversary fundraising dinner on Feb. 24.
“Remon has selflessly contributed, in a special way leveraging his expertise, to support our other service organizations,” according to the Elks. “He has committed significant support for the Kids Fishing Derby a wonderful evening which best characterizes the Gardnerville as a family community with an appreciation for the wonderful recreational opportunities.”
The Elks recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the community over the previous year.
“Remon exemplifies the spirit of community service and embody the values upheld by Elks,” Elks said. “Remon’s selflessness and commitment make him deserving of this honor.”
