Genoa, Nev. — Around 130 people turned out on Wednesday night to hear and comment on the plan to establish a gravel pit at Painted Rock on Washoe Trust Land above Johnson Lane.

Douglas County commissioners will weigh in on the proposal at their meeting today, with a proposed resolution formally opposing the location 2 miles east of the end of Johnson Lane.

Commissioners are also discussing the stormwater management plan, which includes the possibility of converting the conservation easement next to Grandview Estates as a possible flood basin. The commission meets starting 10 a.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.

In other gravel pit-related news, the offices of Bing Construction in the Gardnerville Ranchos were demolished on Wednesday. The question on what will occur with that property lingers.
