Only a little damage was visible from the street in a fire that occurred on Thursday night.

Five newborn puppies were among the multiple pets rescued from a Thursday night garage fire in the 900 block of Sunview Drive.

East Fork firefighters were called for a structure fire at the Sunridge home around 8 p.m.

“On arrival, crews encountered a fire in the garage area that had extended into the attic of the structure,” Battalion Chief Troy Valenzuela said. “First-in companies made an aggressive fire attack and were able to stop the fire in the attic before it caused damage to the interior of the structure. The residents were not home at the time of the incident.”

Valenzuela said none of the animals nor any humans were injured in the blaze.

“Crews worked for approximately three hours to fully contain the fire,” he said.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.

The four residents and their nine pets were displaced since utilities had to be shut off, They are being helped by the Red Cross, Valenzuela said.

Despite the blaze, there was very little visible damage from the street on Friday morning.

This was the second garage fire in a week.

East Fork firefighters responded to a fire on Gordon Avenue in Johnson Lane around 10 p.m. Saturday.

That structure was destroyed along with its contents.
