Federal aviation authorities will be investigating a fatal crash in Truckee today that occurred while a single engine aircraft was attempted to land on Saturday evening.

According to the airport’s automated weather system, it was snowing, and visibility was down to below a mile when the crash occurred at 6:38 p.m. near Glenshire Drive about a half mile north of the runway.

Truckee Police confirmed that two people onboard the single-engine TBM 700 aircraft were killed.

Truckee Police, Truckee Fire, Nevada County Sheriff, Nevada County Coroner and Truckee Tahoe Airport staff responded on Saturday.

According to the FAA, the aircraft was built in 2022 and is owned by Avram Enterprises LLC with offices in Incline Village.
