Prep standings: Douglas in a dogfight as regionals approach

The Douglas baseball team knows it will make the Northern Region 5A tournament, but the Tigers are playing for more than just a spot in the field.

With one regular-season game remaining — Wednesday at Spanish Springs — Douglas is in a three-way tie for fourth place (with Reed and in the 5A North standings. The top four finishers will play their opening-round regional games at home.

On the softball side, the Tigers have no such concerns. Unbeaten Douglas can clinch the 5A title and the top seed in the regional with a win Thursday against Spanish Springs.
