Genoa, Nev. — The county is cutting 13 positions and holding hiring in two more in order to balance the budget, Financial Officer Kathy Lewis told commissioners on Tuesday. Sheriff Dan Coverley said last month he had nine vacancies and there were 4-5 folks in training. Those are not affected by the cut, and the sheriff announced hiring new deputy Andrew Turek on Monday.
