Fourth time charm in drug case

A woman who failed to appear in court three times since 2022 faces up to eight years in prison.

Vanessa Marie Alanis, 29, was arrested Aug. 20, 2022, at Stateline for possession of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, she made bail in Tahoe Justice Court and was scheduled to appear in Douglas County Oct. 31, 2022, and twice in May 2023.

Sentencing is set for June 17.

• A man who used his brother’s identity to avoid being arrested faces five years in prison.

David Kenneth Rogers, 20, was arrested March 22 after he gave deputies a false name knowing he had active warrants out for his arrest.

Sentencing is set for June 17. He has another case that will be heard that day, with charges for parole violation, failure to appear and obstructing an officer, according to Doulas County jail records.

• A $7,000 bench warrant was ordered for Christopher Andrew Ferguson Monday.

 Ferguson, 44, was arrested Jan. 28 and appeared in East Fork Justice Court three days later. He was released on Feb. 28.

He faces charges related to the sale of marijuana to minors, including a 15- and a 16-year-old.
