An Indian Hills man will spend some time in jail after he was sentenced to probation in a Christmas Eve home invasion.

Shawn Christopher Watt, 32, thanked the residents of a home he broke into while intoxicated for not shooting him.

“They could have shot me and maybe should have shot me,” he said. “Thank you for letting me have my life.”

Watt, who asked if he would be able to get a nursing license with a felony on his record, was sentenced to an underlying 12-30 months in prison on the condition he serve 364 days in jail. His lack of prior criminal history was a factor in determining his sentence.

He already has 136 days time served since his arrest.

“Every day people paint their own self portrait,” District Judge Tod Young said. “You get to determine what you paint, and you’ll paint better if you’re sober.”

In addition to the jail time, Watt must pay $2,100.39.

• A last-minute plea agreement resulted in a trial being vacated this week.

Lorenzo Phillip Lammers, 45, agreed to plead no contest to two counts of possession in connection with a July 21, 2023, arrest.

A trial was set to begin on Wednesday but was vacated after the plea deal was signed on Monday.

Lammers has been in custody since before Christmas after he violated bail conditions.

Lammers and Arebella Maria Cook, 45, were arrested after the vehicle Cook was driving was pulled over.

Both have prison records, with Cook serving terms for possession of a controlled substance for sale and a federal sentence for sale of a controlled substance.

Lammers has two prior prison terms for possession of controlled substance, in addition to an armed robbery with deadly weapon enhancement from the beginning of the century.

He is also being held on a warrant possibly stemming from his July 4, 2022, arrest in El Dorado County on several charges.
