Master Gardeners host native plant sale

There are 3,189 native plant species across the Great Basin, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

A native plant sale is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at The Nature Conservancy – River Fork Ranch, 381 Genoa Lane.

Presented by the University of Nevada, Reno, Extension Douglas County Master Gardeners, all proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the program.

All plants are grown by the Washoe State Tree Nursery.  UNR Extension Master Gardeners will be onsite to help community members shop for plants.

There are no pre-sales. Purchases may be cash, check or credit card. All plants are on a first-come first-serve basis.

Plants will be prices at $12 and $14.

Also 9 a.m. -1 p.m. Saturday is the Heritage Park Gardens annual Plant Faire and Expo.

“Get a jump start on your garden with locally grown starter plants and hand-painted garden goodies available for donation to bring beauty and charm to your garden,” organizers said.

The Heritage Park Gardens is a Main Street Gardnerville community garden project made possible through 100 percent volunteer efforts and donations.

Douglas High School agriculture students and Carson Valley FFA are conducting their annual plan sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the weekends of May 25-26 and June 1-2 at the Douglas High School Greenhouse.

The students only accept cash or checks at their sale.
