“So I’m going to prison?” asked a 63-year-old Topaz Ranch Estates man who received 1-4 years on Tuesday.

Ike Anthony Madrid received 86 days credit for time served after he’d been in custody since March 6.

Madrid’s somewhat checkered behavior while out on bail was a factor in District Judge Tom Gregory’s decision to send him to prison for supplying methamphetamine, as was his prior record.

Madrid was originally arrested last spring after he was accused of three methamphetamine sales. He posted bail and was released but was taken into custody after failed to appear for a hearing.

Prosecutor Chelsea Mazza pointed out that before his arrest Madrid had five positive tests for methamphetamine when he actually came in to test with Alternative Sentencing. In the instance where he was last taken into custody he said he was snowed in one day, then went hot-tubbing in Austin after saying his vehicle broke down.

Attorney Matthew Ence sought a suspended 12-30-month sentence with a requirement he undergo 45 days of inpatient treatment followed by outpatient treatment.
