In what I believe might be a first for Douglas County, a jury convicted a man of felony failure to appear on Wednesday morning. Jury selection was Tuesday in the case against Jacob Angelo Massey, who was originally facing a felony domestic battery.

The county is seeking applications for Library Board of Trustees to replace former Book Den owner Starla Doughty. She was appointed in 2022 and her term expired Dec. 31, 2027. Apply at the county web site by 5 p.m. June 7.
