A Ruhenstroth man was taken into custody on Friday night after deputies responded to the 1800 block of Colt Lane for a 9:55 p.m. report of a man shooting a gun in the house.
“When deputies arrived they learned from occupants of the residence that Chauncey Fagan had been drinking and got into a domestic argument with a family member,” Sheriff Dan Coverley said on Saturday. “This argument developed into involving a firearm and the gun being fired.”
With the exception of Fagan, the residents evacuated the home. Fagan exited unarmed after a short negotiation, and he was arrested.
Fagan faces two counts of domestic battery with an elderly person enhancement, discharging a firearm within a residence and alternative sentencing violation.
He posted $34,009 bail in the case and was given a June 3 court date.
Fagan is a Douglas High School math teacher whose hiring was listed in The Record-Courier in 2022.
