Genoa, Nev. — A Memorial Day observance is 10 a.m. today in the Genoa Cemetery. Retired AP reporter Brendan Riley found an item about a parade from town to the cemetery in honor of two Civil War veterans dating back to 1884.


The Vietnam Moving Wall closing ceremony is 7 p.m. today before it’s broken down Tuesday morning to move on to Flagstaff, Ariz., according to the schedule at themovingwall.org.


No one reported an injury from a collision at Highway 395 and Johnson Lane around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, though there was a lot of debris on the road. A 4:15 p.m. Saturday collision on Mottsville Lane at Mott Court saw both occupants refuse treatment.


After Friday night’s head-on collision, things settled down on the roads a bit, but today will be a big travel day as folks return home, so be careful out there.


The first day of the Douglas High School Agriculture and FFA plant sale was pretty busy. The Ag students are back at it next weekend at the high school green house.


Government offices and banks are closed today, as is The Record-Courier, in observance of Memorial Day.


There’s a chance we’ll see some showers or thunderstorms 2-8 p.m. today, but otherwise the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 83 degrees. The wind will be out of the west at 5-10 mph.
