Genoa, Nev. — A 5:30 p.m. collision at the base of Red Lake Grade closed Highway 88 at Carson Pass for three hours on Memorial Day. The road reopened 8:30 p.m. I’ve received word it was a fatal motorcycle crash, but I’ve reached out to the CHP to confirm that.

The Vietnam Moving Wall is headed for Flagstaff, Ariz., after being broken down this morning. A lot of folks visited Eastside Memorial Park over the Memorial Day weekend to visit the wall and commune with their memories.

The folks down in Walker and Coleville might have felt a faint nudge from a 2.19 magnitude earthquake 1 a.m. this morning centered east of Highway 395 and the Walker River.

The Esmeralda Farmers Market is 4-8 p.m. today in downtown Minden. The Just a Drop In Farmers Market is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville.

The budget and changing hours at the Zephyr Cove Branch are on the agenda for Douglas County Public Library trustees 10 a.m. today at the Minden Branch, 1625 Library Lane in Minden.

Early in-person voting continues 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. People can drop off the ballots they got in the mail at the Election Tent at the Douglas County Courthouse.

The roving ballot box will be at the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and at the Fish Springs Fire Station 3-6 p.m. I’ll try to include a note each day of early voting, but you can check my work at govotedouglas.com or looking at your sample ballot.

Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin said his lightning detector recorded 23 lightning strikes yesterday beginning at 6:31 p.m. The only measurable rain to hit a gauge was .01 inches at the Fish Springs Fire Station around 7:15 p.m.

It's forecast to be warm and sunny today with a high temperature of 81 degrees and the zephyr picking up this afternoon 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph.
