Genoa, Nev. — As of Monday night, Douglas took the turnout lead in the state with 67 percent of active voters casting a ballot. The other third of the county’s electorate will be able to vote today in person at the polls or drop off their mailed ballot.

Gardnerville Town Board members are scheduled discuss the first reading of a proposal to raise trash rates $8.51 a month for residents and $10.42 per use for commercial customers starting July 1, 2025. The town board meets 4:30 p.m. today at 1407 Main St.

Members of the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board are scheduled to discuss ranking capital improvement projects and review the program and facilities manual 6-8 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.

The first night of a planned power outage affected around 52 NV Energy customers along Genoa Lane. The company is replacing power poles along the route through Nov. 8, according to the reader board.

The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 57 degrees. A light northerly breeze will pick up this afternoon. We could see temperatures hit the teens tonight.
