Genoans are playing Bingo to raise money for work on the Genoa Town Hall 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The hall’s doors open at 3:30 p.m. Cards for the roughly 20 games are 50 cents each with daubers, $2.
Chili with fixings will be available for purchase, and there will be raffles.
The event is hosted by the Friends of Genoa and the Town of Genoa. Proceeds will benefit Town Hall improvements.
“Built in 1886 as the Raycraft Dance Hall, this structure was purchased from Annie Raycraft in 1941 by the Town of Genoa,” according to www.genoanevada.org. “The Genoa Candy Dance was held in the Town Hall starting in1919 and has since outgrown the Town Hall's 240 person capacity.”
On Wednesday, the Town Board was scheduled to discuss a $100,390 grant from the Commission for Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation to make improvements to the Hall.
