Intero Real Estate raised $30,000 during its biennial Chili Cook Off event on Oct. 12.
Now, in its ninth year, the biennial event is an opportunity for the community, businesses, and non-profits to come together and spread awareness and support for one another, while benefiting a local nonprofit.
During the event, residents and businesses set up a booth and serve chili while competing as the best booth décor, best chili, and a people’s choice award.
This year’s event saw 20 chili cooks compete, said Intero Broker DJ Johnson.
Core Title was awarded Judges Choice, best chili. Douglas County Community Center received the People’s Choice for best chili and the Dragonfly and Lotus won People’s Choice for best booth.
“It feels like the whole town was here to support,” said Johnson.
The proceeds were divided to benefit The Family Support Council’s Confidential shelter and Douglas Center for Hope and Healing. Each received $15,000.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our community for their overwhelming support and proud to be contributing to such important organizations,” said Johnson.
The next Intero Chili Cookoff will be Fall 2026.
