Genoa, Nev. — Minden residents love voting so much that 109.56 percent turned out to vote for Town Board. Clerk-Treasurer Amy Burgans said that’s because inactive and newly registered voters signed up and cast a ballot. When the canvass is done those voters will be added to the active list and it will be corrected.
The additional voters may have had an effect elsewhere on the ballot, but because there are only 2,000 active voters in Minden, it sort of stuck out in the stats. I didn’t even notice it until Ms. Burgans called me this morning.
I was looking for votes that swapped in the districts, which is my story and I’m sticking to it. I didn’t find a one in the stack, so we’re pretty much done results-wise. There will be more ballots to count, but it shouldn’t affect much. I have Thursday evening’s totals in Saturday’s edition.
County commissioners approved a settlement agreement with Ranchos LLC. I didn’t even have time to dive into those cases before the settlement arrived on Thursday’s agenda. They have a second reading of the ordinance on Dec. 5, which will have to approve the project before the cases are dropped.
District Judge Tod Young took the Muller Parkway injunction request under advisement after hearing arguments on Thursday morning.
It’s going to be sunny and warmer today with the high hitting 62 degrees. Saturday will be even nicer.
