1 Tim 6:15-16 “He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power”.

Many of those whose interests and studies have been in the field of Political Science have long agreed that, in theory, the ideal form of human government would be the single person rule of a Sovereign monarch over all nations. Of course, no human man or women could qualify for such an imposing position.  Nor would a committee of the greatest qualifications select one that all members of society could agree on,

However, the Word of God tells us that God, the Creator of life, and all Physical and material things that comprise our universe, has, from the beginning, already chosen one who will ultimately rule over an  eternal  Kingdom. It is none other but He who is called Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

In the New Testament, the phrase, “kingdom of God” and the “kingdom of Heaven” are synonymous terms and appear over a hundred times in the New Testament and abundantly alluded to in scores of ancient prophesies of Hebrew Scriptures.

Beginning right after the baptism of the Lord Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 4, and verse 7, we read “From that time (referring to Christ’s baptism) Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Ancient prophecies in the Scriptures abound in descriptions of a future king called “the Messiah” who will ultimately reign over the entire world. They also  foretell  the ultimate destiny of every nation of the world and their relationship to this e kingdom.

The great Hebrew prophet Jeremiah, for example, writes an astonishing prophecy of a future  king, in Jeremiah  chapter 23 verses 5 & -6:  “Behold, the days are coming,” says the lord, “that --

A King shall reign and prosper and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. in his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is his name by which he will be called:  The lord our righteousness”.

This prophecy perfectly corresponds to Christian theology of which the Apostle Paul is a notable proponent.  His well-known epistle of Romans majors in the doctrines of God’s perfect righteousness and how all people in succeeding ages may attain to it. The specific verse is Rom 10:10 “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.

This kings birthday will be celebrated by the world next month and appeared on earth more than 2,000 years ago giving evidence of His royal identity by many “infallible” proofs. Nevertheless, He was executed by the rulers of the day out of envy and fear, but He was resurrected in the greatest miracle of human history. This resurrection event was also foretold in ancient Hebrew Scriptures as well as His future return to earth as king when He will terminate the age of human government and permanently establish the everlasting Kingdom of God which will never end. (Isaiah 9:7)
