In the race for East Fork Justice of the peace race, Laurie Trotter defeated challenger Jeff Schemenauer, 15,653-10,208.

“With gratefulness and humility, I was honored the voters of Carson Valley selected me as East Fork Justice of the Peace,” Trotter said. “I look forward to serving the Carson Valley community with dedication, fairness, and integrity.  Thank you for your confidence in me.”

Schemenauer said he felt he gave it his all.

“I know in my heart that we fought the good fight and gave everything we had to this campaign,” Schemenauer said. “Just as I did throughout my 30-plus years of dedicated service to country and community, I battled hard and ran this campaign with integrity and honor. I want to take this opportunity to thank my family — especially my wife and daughter — along with our loyal friends and supporters. This journey pushed me beyond my comfort zone, and I’m grateful for the chance to have met so many incredible people who I know will remain lifelong friends.”

Incumbent Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace Mike Johnson defeated challenger Richard Gardner, 1,908-1,324 votes.

Minden Town Board candidates Mimi Moss and incumbent Steve Thaler won their races.

The turnout for the Minden Advisory Board came in at almost 110 percent of the number of active voters in the town.

Clerk-Treasurer Amy Burgans said that number includes inactive voters and newly registered voters, who will be added to the active list when the canvass is done.

The additional voters may have had an effect elsewhere on the ballot, but because there were only 2,428 active voters in the town it stood out in the results.

Moss came in with 1,460 votes to Thaler’s 1,141, but both topped Robbe Lehmann’s 923 and will take a seat on the board in January.

Of Douglas County’s score of independent improvement districts, seven had contested races.

Teresa Duffy, Allen Biaggi and Sharon Des Jardins won seats on the East Fork Swimming Pool District.

Gardnerville Ranchos resident Dave Nelson and incumbent James Degraffenried won the race for the general improvement district board.

Nelson, a former county commissioner, will vacate his seat on the planning commission after the December meeting, according to the county.

Indian Hills General Improvement District incumbent Russ Siegman and Kathryn Ross won their races. Topaz Ranch Estates incumbent Sharon Becker and Jeffrey Burgess will serve on that general improvement district board.

Three Lake Tahoe districts were also on Tuesday’s ballot.

John Breaux led the race for Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District trustee with 1,790 votes. Candidates Benjamin Ward and Dan Kruger came in second and third, giving them a win.

Former Tahoe Douglas Fire trustee Greg Felton led the race for Kingsbury General Improvement District Trustee with 716 votes.

He will be joined by Sara Nelson and Ed Johns on the district board in January.

In the race for two seats on the Round Hill General Improvement District, Darin R. Smith and Gregg Rossi won over Janet Murphy.
