Genoa, Nev. — There’s a possibility public safety power outage will be implemented along the Sierra Front by NV Energy and Liberty Utilities. Liberty issued a notice on Saturday that a shutoff could occur between 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The foothills between Genoa and Highway 50 are subject to a possible between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
All that depends on how windy it actually gets today. Minden is forecast to see 20-25 mph winds between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., with 30-40 mph gusts. It’s really warm out this morning, at 51 degrees, which is only a half-dozen degrees off the forecast high temperature.
Local, state and federal offices are closed for Veterans Day today. While banks and the Post Office are closed, most businesses are open today, including The Record-Courier.
Around 25 Marines turned out to the Douglas County Community & Senior Center on Sunday for the 249th birthday of their service. Ninth Marines Corp. Ed Bryant was the oldest Marine, having served from 1954-1958.

The Highway 395-88 corridor through Carson Valley could see winds of 50-plus mph today before it dies down late afternoon. The forecast calls for around a tenth of an inch of rain this afternoon, if any.
