Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Stephanie Smith is joining the Ironwood Urgent Care.
Smith decided to become a registered nurse due to the care she received from nurses when having her now 13-year-old son. She attended Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, to become a registered nurse.
During her four years there, Smith started in the medical field as a certified nursing assistant in long term care.
Smith then started working in the NICU.
She said she was thrilled to see the babies thrive and loved seeing healthy teenagers who were previous NICU babies come back to visit after spending their early months in the hospital.
After graduating with a bachelors of science in nursing, Smith returned to Western Nevada as a registered nurse with Carson Valley Health.
She also has experience in family practice, post op nursing, telemetry nursing, and medical oncology nursing.
Smith most recently spent the past three years in graduate school while working as an emergency room registered nurse. She recently completed clinicals in family practice and urgent care. With a masters in nursing, she is returning as an urgent care provider and nurse practitioner.
“I really value health, and I value quality of life,” Smith said. “I’m excited to serve the community where I grew up and make a positive impact.”
In her spare time, Smith competes in triathlons, running, and snowboarding with her loved ones.
